Why the Rural Women’s Handicraft (Backgrounds)

RWH was established in 2024 as a response to the declining economic opportunities and social marginalization of women in shimulia, Jashore. Pinku Rita Biswas is from Shimulia Village which is under shimulia Union, Jhikargacha Sub-district, Jashore District. Total land area of this union is 67.24 Kilometer. Total population is 8000 family with 23926 number of male and 22967 number of Female. Under shimulia village per hate income 120 BDT which is very low. The main occupation of the people here is agriculture. Due to very low income of the male here female of the family are trying to earn money beside their home work through handicrafts.  They have small knowledge on handicrafts but the number of women is huge. so it will be great opportunity if the women becomes Human resources then income level of the family can increase. Due to the dream its mission is to empowered, make skilled man power and upgrade life style of women through creating safe Job place.

The RWH has been instrumental in reviving traditional handicrafts, such as Kantha embroidery and silk weaving, which were on the verge of extinction beside it will be create income source of the family. 

 

Research conducted in the area revealed that women from marginalized communities faced significant barriers to employment and income generation. Handicrafts offered a viable alternative for these women, allowing them to work from home and contribute to their families’ livelihoods.
